The Two Things I Dislike Most About Windows 7?

I recently installed Windows 7 on my desktop and laptop and I have to say, I’m really impressed. Microsoft has really bounced back from Windows Vista, and I believe fear of more problems is the only thing that might keep people from upgrading.
However, I’m not going to talk about Windows 7′s forecast, I’m just going to quickly mention the two things I believe could be improved.

  • You can’t upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows XP, meaning casual computer users will have a hard time migrating to the new OS. Windows 7 is still in it’s beta stage, so maybe that’s why Microsoft hasn’t put a lot of thought into the upgrade process. Nevertheless, it’s a huge setback.
  • Internet activity and the mouse do not play well: Yeah, whenever I’m downloading a file, loading a relatively large web page, or streaming from _some_ video sites, my mouse lags… badly. Sometimes worse than others, and usually I’m only downloading a file just a few Megabytes in size, so while it’s not a huge issue, it severely limits my multitasking abilities when I try to use the Internet simultaneously with other programs. I’m not sure if this is an issue with others, all I know is that it’s a bug and needs to be worked out.

So, that’s what I can’t stand about Windows 7 so far, and both of those are issues that will most likely be worked out. What does this mean? It means that Microsoft has built a really good operating system, that’s what.
