New Application Statistics for Android Market Publishers

In a recent update to the Android Market Publisher site, each application listed now has a statistics link. Clicking the link will take publishers to a page filled with statistics for their application.

The statistics provided by the new page include a graph showing active installs over a specified time period, as well as graphs of the application’s user base broken down by Android OS version, device name, and language spoken.

If you’re a developer, like myself, I know you’ll appreciate this new statistics feature. Now developers will be able to see which versions of Android are being used by the application the most, and focus development efforts more strongly on that version (for example, making sure the application works as expected on versions that make up a good chunk of the user base).
