Even A Kid Can Make Money On Ebay

My dad works as a computer consultant. He’s been layed off before (either through layoffs or the company being acquired) and has collected quite a lot of technology. Our home office is (well, was) filled with boxes of the stuff. So, seeing as both my parents are working daily and are busy, they asked me if I would sell some of their stuff on Ebay under their account. I agreed.

Basically, I created a listing for an item, conversed with my dad over the price, then hit the submit button. If it sold, I received 20% in commission, before all the fees. 20% may not seem like much, but when I sold a PDA for $500, I knew I had made the right choice taking up my parents’ offer. So far, I have made around $150 selling old equipment.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that it is extremely simple to put something up for sale. So all you kids out there looking for some cash, ask you parents if there is anything they want to sell. Of course, make sure you agree on your percentage. Adults should look around their house as well, because this post wasn’t intended as a motivational piece that caused kids to sell their parents’ stuff on Ebay.

Remember, as the saying goes: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

Great post, Eddie. I've been selling items on NZ auction site Trademe for about a year and have made thousands.
